Alaska Studies at the Center

Alaska Studies students experience culture, fulfill course requirements and visit the Center FREE.   Designed for 11th Grade students to meet ASD Alaska Studies course requirements for grades 9-12 Native students enrolled in a high school program.  Program is FREE.

Alaska Studies at the Center

The Alaska Native Heritage Center is partnering with the Anchorage School District by offering a FREE visit to the Center for all Alaska studies students. Teachers may assign the Research Guide on the back of this page or one of their own design.

Program Details

• Alaska Studies students are welcome during selected hours for self-guided tours. (See Center availability below.)
• Alaska Studies students are encouraged to visit during Celebrating Culture Saturdays event calendar here.
• Students are advised to call 330-8000 to ensure that the Center is open.
• Students should plan to spend from two to three hours at the Center to complete their assignment.
• Students have FREE admission to the Center when they show their student ID and either this Research Guide, or a similar
study guide from an instructor.
• FREE admission as an Alaska Studies student also includes FREE admission for one adult chaperone.

2:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
During these times the Center is operating the High School After-School Program for Native students. Alaska Studies students may observe the program as they complete their assignment. This opportunity is NOT available on days during ASD school closures.
