Blossoming Together
Highlights from ANHC’s 2025 Garden Party
On a golden summer evening, the Alaska Native Heritage Center community gathered to celebrate culture, connection, and the power of giving at our 2025 Garden Party, graciously hosted by long-time friend and supporter Diane Kaplan. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Co-Hosts, staff, honored guests, vendors, artists, and community members, this year’s event raised over $650,000 in support of ANHC’s mission to preserve and strengthen Alaska Native languages, traditions, and arts.
“Quyana cakneq cingumaluku ANHC-q. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our growing donor community, whose investment fuels the expansion of ANHC’s programming and helps shape our future,” said Kelsey Ciugun Wallace (Yup’ik), ANHC Interim President and CEO. “The Alaska Native Heritage Center is a gathering place where knowledge is shared, traditions are strengthened, and our cultures thrive. The generosity of our community ensures that we can continue this mission-driven work to preserve and strengthen the traditions, languages, and arts of Alaska’s Native peoples for generations to come.”
The past year has been truly transformational for the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Together, with the support of our community, we launched and completed several legacy projects, including:
-
Alaska’s first Community Subsistence Kitchen, a space to prepare, preserve, and share traditional foods.
-
Expansion of our West Side Campus to welcome more visitors and community gatherings.
-
Creation of our Healing Garden, a space for reflection, wellness, and cultural connection.
-
Major facility upgrades that reflect our cultural values and expand access for our community.
The Garden Party was a beautiful evening of celebration, community, and shared commitment to Alaska Native cultures. It also marked the final day of former President & CEO Emily Edenshaw at ANHC. We honor Emily for her inspiring leadership over the past six years and uplift our incredible team, who continues to lead with love for our communities, cultures, and ways of life.
We look forward to our next Garden Party. In the meantime, we invite you to visit us, connect with our culture-bearers, and explore the many events happening at ANHC — from master artist workshops and panels on boarding school research, to concerts, dance practices, artist bazaars, and so much more.
THANK YOU TO OUR 2025 GARDEN PARTY SPONSORS
Gunalchéesh, Nt’oyaxsn, Quyana, Māhsi cho, Chin’an (thank you in Alaska Native languages) to all who support ANHC as a vibrant cultural home where Alaska Native knowledge thrives and future generations grow strong in their identities.
