School Visits

Fall/Winter/Spring Only, all grades

Field trips to the Alaska Native Heritage Center are a great opportunity for students to get an introduction to Alaska Native cultures through presentations, activities, and film. There are two options available:

Standard School Visit
$8 per student | 90 Minutes

Introduction to Alaska Native Cultures with ANHC staff, village site tour, and choice of a 30-minute film.

Extended School Visit
$10 per student | 120 Minutes

Includes all Standard School Visit activities with an additional choice of two activities from the following: Native dancing and drumming, Native stories/string stories, Native games, Native art project.

  • Time does not include lunch. Please plan for additional time if students will be eating on-site.
  • One Teacher/Chaperone is free with every 10 paid students. Additional teachers/chaperones are $8 per person.
  • Maximum 60 students per visit.

Anchorage School District (ASD) teachers can submit requests online through SchoolDude TripDirect. Other organizations can schedule directly by calling 907-330-8000 or emailing schoolvisits@alaskanative.net.

Self-Guided Summer School Visit
$9.95

Summer season school visits are entirely self-guided. Rate is $9.95 per student and with every five paying students we comp one adult chaperone. Additional chaperones past the 1:5 ratio may attend by paying $13.95.

Shavila – Cultural School Assembly

$375 | 45 Minutes
