DETAILS

Learn how to create canvas boots with Gwich'in artist Charlie Pardue. This free three-day workshop will take place December 12–14, 2025, from 9AM to 5PM in the Mabel Pike Games Classroom at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Gwich’in artist Charlie Pardue works across a wide range of traditional and contemporary mediums, including handcrafted knives, beading, fur sewing, and fish-skin tanning. His work is featured in several notable collections: an elaborately beaded octopus bag and a dentalium Chief’s necklace are on display at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles; a sandblasted knife with canvas micarta handles can be seen aboard the USS Anchorage, a Marine Corps landing craft; and his hand-sewn, beaded moose-hide Gwich’in dance boots are exhibited at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
