DETAILS

Come learn how to make soft bottom piluguk’s with Yup’ik artist Eva Bryant! This free, hands-on workshop takes place over two sessions: September 22–26 and September 29–October 3, 2025, meeting each weekday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Participants will create a pair of traditional soft bottom piluguk’s (not hard bottom).

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Eva was born and raised in the village of Eek, where she first learned to sew by watching her mother and grandmother make yo-yos at a young age. She has been an artist at the Alaska Native Heritage Center since its opening in 1999 and has shared her knowledge of Native art through teaching at the University of Alaska Anchorage, the Anchorage School District, and the Anchorage Museum.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn the art of Piluguks!
