Join us on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 6-9PM at the Alaska Native Heritage Center for the Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fundraiser. Let’s come together and raise funds for our relatives impacted by Typhoon Halong. The evening will include a silent auction, donations at the door, a raffle, opportunities to give online, a spaghetti feed, a cake walk and Alaska Native dance performances.
This past October, Typhoon Halong devastated coastal communities in Western Alaska. Hundreds of families were displaced, villages wrecked by severe flooding, and entire homes swept away. On October 22, 2025, the President declared a major disaster in the State of Alaska. Freezers and their contents were destroyed, fish racks ruined, and engines for boats and four wheelers damaged beyond repair. Communities have been separated, their homes deemed unlivable. Families will be facing the effects of this typhoon for the foreseeable future.
There is a new need every single day and a consistent barrier to access necessities. The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) is raising money to fill in the gaps by providing necessities such as winter gear, coats and boots for displaced families.
Across our state, ANHC has seen an incredible outpouring of support for our relatives in their time of need. A statewide effort has unfolded here at ANHC as subsistence food donations have been generously donated to provide a taste of home to those now displaced in Anchorage. This moment calls for us to continue showing up with love and care, truly living out our Alaska Native value of “Share What You Have – giving makes you richer.”
This event is hosted by the Alaska Native Heritage Center, Calista Corporation, Cook Inlet Housing Authority, Southcentral Foundation, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Cook Inlet Tribal Council and Native Peoples Action.
