Alaska Native Heritage Center’s annual Mother’s Day celebration marks the opening of the 2015 summer season on May 10, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. ANHC’s yearly Mother’s Day celebration is a way of honoring all mothers and their families. Opening day will include various guest performers including Island Reggae Band "H3", a special catering demonstration with well-known Alaska Native chef Rob Kinneen, and the exclusive dancing ceremony featuring the ANHC dancers and maks by Perry Eaton. Come engage in Alaska Native dance presentations, participation, and sharing, see Alaska Native Games demonstrations, watch as demonstrating Alaska Native artists share their work, and participate in craft activities for mothers and children alike. Opening Day at ANHC will introduce our new theme for the year, “Honor Your Elders, They Show You the Way in Life.” In addition to the performances in the Gathering Place, a variety of short films will be shown in the theatre, village site tours will be available and Alaska Native artists demonstrate in the Hall of Cultures.
